Why The Conceitedness?

Physicists show scores of examples of all the Goldilock zones the Earth is in, thereby making life possible. If we were outside even one of these zones, life would not have been possible, and so people believe that there is a supreme force controlling the universe and making it possible for us to live. Why do they assume that this 'supreme force' cares whether we live or not? Isn't it more likely that merely because the Earth is inside all these zones we happen to exist?...And not just that, maybe if conditions were different on Earth, we might've evolved to adapt to them. Also, why do people even have the preconceived notion that extraterrestrials will be anything like us? Maybe they don't need oxygen to survive...maybe they can withstand temperatures of 1000 degree.

  3. Look at all the first contact pop culture. The war of the worlds( the old book). The aliens are not supposed to be like us neither were they in our Goldilocks Zones. They die from diseases. I don't think there is a preconception that aliens are like us before recent pop culture.

  6. They found a new planet, with about three times the Earth’s mass, orbiting the red dwarf star Gliese 581. They found it using the Doppler method.
I should hope to see an alien some day. But then again isn't it somewhat like discovering a new species of plant or animal on our own planet?

  8. No, what you are talking about is extraterrestrial life form. Aliens can be a non-inhabitant of a country or some life form previously unknown.

  9. i guess some part of us already wish that we need to find something unique, something "different" as some term it to be.maybe we need some proof of existence.some proof that life actaually exists.as in seeing a live creature(alien).
@neelu-its not like a new species of plant or animal.everyday something new crops.we're either interested or not interested.but when it comes from outside.from somewhere outside the earth where we live, it catches our attention.and thats why aliens become much more interesting due to this fact.rest the other notions about aliens might be true.i do not know.but this is.i do know :)
